Protein-Casein

The chunky brother of Whey protein is Casein.

Firstly the dense clumps cause the aminos to be broken down over a longer period of time when compared to whey protein. An example of how we can build muscle with casein protein, is the slow release of protein is great for longer periods of muscle nourishment.

Casein is always extracted with it’s lighter partner whey protein. The notable texture difference between casein (sometimes described as clumpy) “thickness” and the smooth “light” texture of whey protein. It is important to remember both protein are derived from milk.

Now lets look at a few casein protein “tactics” you will hear commonly about ….

One. Use before going to bed

Main idea: The slower breakdown overnight helps provide steady muscle nourishment in the sleep time.

Two. Use to curb deserts back.

Main idea: the dessert replacement can be a great tactic to curb high calorie tasty desserts.

Three: Use to fill nutritional gaps

Main idea: say for example in your day you happened to miss lunch but, you remembered your parachute protein. Lucky you not to go overly hungry and tired from missing a meal because you had your prepped shake to cover for you.

Above all I would note that casein is a great resource to help in bettering your fitness! The only precaution I would mention is to vary the proteins you use as if you are using whey both protein, it is a lot of milk based protein and some may not digest that much milk well.

Personally I like to mix up my bedtime strategy with casein or a plant based protein supplement.
