Protein Supplements

No whey….there are way too many different protein supplements out there right?

Have you been wanting to get the benefits of Protein Supplements but have no idea where to start? I am writing this article today to break down what the types of protein supplements there are and how you can benefit from it!

Firstly, protein supplementation can take two common forms, one is to make up for a lack of regular nutrition by filling in the gaps of time when you do not eat. The second form comes once a strong nutrition pattern has developed, post workout intake can be manipulated to benefit recovery and maximize muscle gains while going about the day.

But the question is what kind of protein supplement should I try out?

Here is a simple breakdown of protein supplements out there.

Whey and Casein are milk based protein

Beef is dehydrated beef

Plant based protein can be Soy based -not good for everyone

“Plant based” can be brown rice and pea protein-good option if your body doesn’t like soy.

Which protein supplement is right for me?

For example, if you are lactose intolerant make sure that you avoid a milk based protein like Whey or Casein . Look to using a beef or plant based protein supplement.

Beef is a great protein that is usually lower in carbs and in calories.

Egg protein supplements are also great as they are a complete protein in themselves! By far it is a cake like experience when you make a egg protein shake!

Now, I have found plant based protein can have soy in it which for some will upset their stomachs. However there are plant based proteins supplements composed of brown rice and pea protein which contain no soy. The latter of plant based protein supplements, in my personal opinion, tend to taste great and have a smooth texture to the protein shake.

Above all using a protein supplement to either boost your nutrition while you are working on building new regular food habits or for maximizing the lean muscle gains you can obtain from after your workout is a solid and tasty addition to your new healthy lifestyle!
